Chief Financial Officer Vacancy

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and management to the Municipality. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing financial policies and procedures, managing the Municipality's financial resources, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and management to the Municipality.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Municipality's financial resources.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide financial advice to the Municipal Manager and Council.
  • Develop and manage the Municipality's budget.
  • Monitor and report on the Municipality's financial performance.
  • Ensure that the Municipality's financial systems are accurate, reliable, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the Municipality's financial performance.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to staff.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Municipal Manager.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A postgraduate degree in Accounting or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior financial management position.
  • Proven track record of financial management and leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Finance Management Act and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage the Municipality's financial resources.
  • Ability to provide financial advice to the Municipal Manager and Council.
  • Ability to develop and manage the Municipality's budget.
  • Ability to monitor and report on the Municipality's financial performance.
  • Ability to ensure that the Municipality's financial systems are accurate, reliable, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to improve the Municipality's financial performance.
  • Ability to provide training and development opportunities to staff.
  • Ability to perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Municipal Manager.
