Conventional Turner Machinist

Job Description

Are you a semi-skilled or qualified Conventional Turner or Machinist within the engineering sector looking for your next opportunity with a growing and stable business? Our client in New Germany KZN, a well-established engineering operation is looking to bring on a hands-on machinist with solid experience working on conventional machines. This role suits someone who is confident working independently and takes pride in precision work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate conventional lathes and milling machines
• Interpret technical drawings and manufacture components accordingly
• Work from samples when required
• Maintain accuracy in tolerances, speeds, and feeds
• Use measuring instruments to ensure quality standards are met
• Follow safety procedures and workshop best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric with relevant machining or engineering qualification
• Trade Test or Red Seal advantageous but not essential
• Proven experience on conventional lathes is essential
• Milling experience highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tolerances
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings
• Good communication skills and reliable work ethic
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
