Job Description

Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Indeed, we recognize the power of human potential and are committed to eliminating barriers that prevent employers from accessing skilled talent. Our approach is comprehensive, encompassing digital accessibility, inclusive in-office experiences, and creating a strong sense of belonging at all of our hosted events.

We continuously educate, evaluate, and improve our offerings to provide an inclusive experience, integrating feedback from our employees and users with lived experiences.

Accessibility for Services

At Indeed, we incorporate processes into the design and development of our services to ensure they are accessible to persons with disabilities and those with functional limitations. Our services are:

  • Presented in an understandable way.
  • Designed to be perceivable by users with different needs.
  • Displayed using fonts of appropriate size, shape, contrast, and spacing for readability.

Digital Accessibility: Beyond Compliance

Indeed recognizes that accessibility is more than a checklist. We follow the internationally accepted Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as well as other relevant accessibility standards like EN 301 549, for designers and developers to improve the accessibility of our digital presence for people with disabilities. Our services follow WCAG 2.1 AA standards, striving to meet the needs of all users consistent with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the European Accessibility Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other similar accessibility laws globally.

To support accessible development practices, we have established company-specific digital accessibility standards, prescribing how we interpret WCAG success criteria and define compliance expectations based on real-world use cases.

Accessibility in Our Workplaces

Our team takes the following measures to enhance disability-inclusive and accessible practices in our workplaces, materials, and products:

  • Consider both technical accessibility and user experience throughout our internal policies
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our teams throughout the organization
  • Assign clear accessibility targets and responsibilities for each team as opportunities for improvement arise
  • Drive disability awareness and pride throughout our organization
  • Ongoing monitoring and testing.

Supported Assistive Technologies

Indeed products support the latest versions of the following browser/screen reader combinations:

  • Windows: JAWS with Chrome, NVDA with Chrome.
  • Mac: VoiceOver with Safari.
  • iOS: VoiceOver with Safari.
  • Android: TalkBack with Chrome.

Accessibility in Our Offices

Indeed is dedicated to building accessible workplaces that surpass mere compliance. By retrofitting 16 offices to ensure consistency for all employees and visitors, we’ve demonstrated our commitment to all employees and visitors. Our focus on accessible design, rather than minimum functionality, creates a more inclusive environment for everyone. We continue to gather feedback and make improvements, reflecting our dedication to long-term accessibility solutions rather than a one-time fix.

Accessible & Inclusive Events

Indeed prioritizes a positive experience for everyone who chooses to participate in our hosted events. We strive to be inclusive, which means we are also committed to accessibility.

Indeed’s hosted events are committed at minimum to:

  • Online Accessibility: Providing an accessible event website, guided by WCAG 2.1 AA standards, and machine captioning and/or automated live transcriptions for online presentations.
  • In-Person Accessibility:
    • Ensuring that buildings where we host in-person events meet local governmental regulations for accessible design.
    • Providing water bowls and relief areas for service animals.
    • Providing extended time between sessions at events to allow attendees to move from one room to another.
    • Providing hallway seating for long hallways at events for those who may need to stop between sessions.
    • For events with an anticipated duration of greater than four hours, we will provide at least one reduced sensory space for attendees or speakers who may need a break from stimulation. This will be a quiet space; phone calls and meetings will be prohibited in this room.
    • Selecting after-hours activities at events that include inclusive opportunities.
    • Providing an at-event point-of-contact for questions or additional services if available.

With considered notice, our team will make every effort to attain the following services:

  • Sign language interpreters.
  • Speech-to-text apps or devices.
  • Braille or braille-friendly digital materials.
  • Additional accommodations tailored to attendees’ needs.

Access Support at Indeed-Hosted Events

We want to make your participation in our events a positive experience. If you request accessibility services, please be sure to indicate:

  • The type of service requested
  • The duration requested (for a multi-day event)
  • Any specifics we should be aware of when meeting this need
  • A possible alternative should the specific request be unavailable for any reason
