Job Description
Along with other Weskus Distrik interns, Dowinah Lewis attended an online ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ course, which included students from universities worldwide. She delivered a presentation titled ‘Empower Education’. In doing so, she also empowered herself.
“This was new territory for me and honestly, I never imagined myself doing it. I was nervous and unsure but rather than feeling intimidated, my thoughts shifted to exposure, growth and a chance to test my potential. It takes a small shift to change everything.”
This experience proved to Dowinah that she could rise to challenges she once thought were beyond her, resulting in new confidence and belief. Dowinah’s transformation was recognised by Dr Nico de Klerk (CEO and Founder of Streetbiz Foundation) who mentioned her at Weskus Distrik’s Small Business Development Workshop which she attended and presented at.
“It reinforced my belief that mindset truly shapes outcomes. Sometimes, the only thing standing between who we are and who we can become is the way we think about ourselves”.
