FINANCE INTERN

Contract type: Fixed term – 40 hours per week

Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Salary: Monthly Stipend (RWF150,000)

About the team

WaterAid Rwanda (WARw) works through supporting local organizations and government to plan and implement inclusive and sustainable services of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). WARw also seeks to influence the policy change through government and other key WASH stakeholders to secure and protect the right of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services. Occupying the position of Business development in WaterAid is an exciting opportunity to work with WaterAid and contribute to the achievement of the national and global goals towards realizing the WASH access for everyone everywhere.

About the role

As our Finance Intern, you will support the finance team in routine tasks and administrative functions, while developing practical skills in financial management, reporting, and compliance and work closely with all Country Programme staffto drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

  • Support data entry of approved transactions into the accounting system.
  • Support reconciliation of petty cash and staff advances.
  • Support basic budget tracking or training materials for non-finance staff
  • Draft schedules for statutory deductions.
  • Assist with filing and organizing finance documents (e.g., vouchers, payment records).
  • Provide support during audits (e.g., preparing files, retrieving documents).
  • Learn and practice using finance systems such as Sun Systems.
  • Support stock counts, and small cash balances.
  • Review partner financial reports for completeness before submission.
  • Other responsibilities that may be allocated by supervisor.
