Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)
Job Description
for paragraphs,
for section headers. Identify sections: The description includes introductory paragraphs, then "Key Responsibilities:" which is a header. Then subheaders: "Management Reporting:", "Budgeting, forecasting and analysis:", "Full costing:", "Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement:", "Others:". Also "Requirements". Also "Post location". Also "Terms of Appointment". Also "How to apply". Also maybe "We thank..." and "ILRI does not charge..." and "To find out more..." and "More ILRI jobs". The instruction: Use for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications, Requirements, Education, Experience, Skills, How to Apply, Key Duties, About the Role). So we need to map each subheader to . The main "Key Responsibilities:" likely is a header; but they said use for section headers. So we should wrap each subheader with . Also "Requirements" is a header. "Post location" maybe not a header but location; but it's a bold line, could be considered a header. "Terms of Appointment" also header. "How to apply" header. Also maybe "We thank..." not a header; it's just paragraph. "ILRI does not charge..." also paragraph. "To find out more..." also paragraph. "More ILRI jobs" maybe a link; but it's a paragraph with anchor. Should we keep the anchor as is? It's part of paragraph; we can keep the inside . The instruction: preserve all original content word-for-word, no rephrase. So we must keep the text exactly as given, including bold tags? They said preserve all original content word-for-word, do not add, remove, summarise, or rephrase. So we must keep the text exactly, including the tags? The raw text includes tags. But we need to output HTML; we should keep the content, but we can keep the tags as they are part of content. However we must not add extra tags beyond those specified. The content includes tags; we should keep them as they appear. But we need to wrap paragraphs in . The tags are inline; they will be inside . That's fine.
We need to ensure we use
- for list items (duties, requirements, qualifications, skills). The list items are already
- inside
. So we need to keep those lists. For each subheader, we need to wrap the following items in ? Actually the list items are already
- . The surrounding text before each subheader is a paragraph. For example after "Key Responsibilities:" there is a
Management Reporting:
then ... So we need to keep that structure: The Management Reporting: is a header; we need to make it an . But the original text had
Management Reporting:
. We need to replace that with Management Reporting:
. However we must preserve content word-for-word, but we can change the tag? The instruction says "Use for section headers". So we must replace the
containing the header with
. That changes the tag, but it's allowed because we are formatting, not altering content. The content inside (the text) remains same. So we will convert each bold header line into . Also "Requirements" is a header; we need Requirements
. Also "Post location" maybe not a header but it's bold; we can treat as Post location
. "Terms of Appointment" also . "How to apply" also . Also maybe "Key Responsibilities:" is a header; but it's already a
Key Responsibilities:
. That should become Key Responsibilities:
. However the instruction says "Use for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications, Requirements, Education, Experience, Skills, How to Apply, Key Duties, About the Role)". So "Key Responsibilities:" qualifies.
Now we need to ensure we wrap all paragraphs in
. The introductory three paragraphs are already
. The "Key Responsibilities:" header is now
. Then each subheader is . Then each list follows. After each list, there may be a paragraph (like "Others:" list items). The list items are
- . After the list, there may be a paragraph (like "Ensure proper archiving..." etc). Actually those are list items, not paragraphs. The list items themselves are
- . The "Others:" list includes items; after that there is no extra paragraph, just the list. Then "Requirements" header, then list items. Then "Post location" paragraph (not a list). Then "Terms of Appointment" paragraph. Then "How to apply" paragraph. Then "We thank..." paragraph. Then "ILRI does not charge..." paragraph. Then "To find out more..." paragraph. Then "More ILRI jobs" paragraph with anchor.
We need to ensure we keep all original content exactly. Let's go through and rewrite.

Now we need to convert.
We need to replace each ...
with ...
. Also the "Key Responsibilities:" header is a Key Responsibilities:
. That should become Key Responsibilities:
. Also "Management Reporting:" etc.
Also note that there is a stray inside the last requirement list item: "Advanced knowledge". That seems like a formatting artifact. We need to preserve content word-for-word, so we must keep that as is. However we might need to keep the extra spaces? The content includes "Advanced knowledge". That's weird; maybe it's "Advanced knowledge". But we must preserve exactly. So we keep that.
Now we need to ensure we wrap all paragraphs in . The introductory three paragraphs are already
. The "Key Responsibilities:" header is now
. Then each subheader is . Then each list is with - . After each list, there may be a paragraph (like after "Others:" list, there is no extra paragraph; the list items are the content). After "Requirements" list, there is no extra paragraph. After "Post location" paragraph, it's a
with bold then colon then text. That's fine; we keep as
. "Terms of Appointment" is a header
Terms of Appointment
- we need to convert to Terms of Appointment
. Actually it's a header, not a paragraph. So we replace with Terms of Appointment
. Then the following paragraph is This position is at job level HG14 ...
- keep as .
"How to apply" header:
How to apply: Applicants ...
. That's a paragraph with bold start. We need to convert the header to How to apply:
. But the paragraph includes the bold "How to apply:" as part of the text. The instruction: Use for section headers. So we need to replace the
How to apply: ... with
How to apply:
followed by the paragraph? Actually the original had How to apply: Applicants ...
. The bold part is the header. So we should change that to
containing the bold text, and then the rest of the paragraph (the rest of the text) should be in a
. But the instruction says "Use
for introductory paragraphs and general text". So we can split: The header is
, then the rest of the text (the paragraph) is
. However the original combined them. We need to preserve content word-for-word, but we can restructure. The content includes "How to apply:" as part of the paragraph. If we separate, we might be adding a new
after the
. That's okay because we are not adding or removing content, just reorganizing. The content "Applicants should send..." remains. So we will have:
How to apply:
Applicants should send a cover letter and CV ...
But note that the original had a space after colon and then the rest. We'll keep that.
Similarly "Post location" is a Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. That's a paragraph with bold header and text. We need to convert to Post location
then The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. But the colon is part of the header? Actually the original has Post location: The position... So the colon is after the bold. We can keep the colon inside the maybe: Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. But that would be mixing header and text. Better: Post location
then
The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. However that changes the colon location. The instruction: preserve all original content word-for-word. So we must keep the colon after the header. If we separate, we might lose the colon. So we should keep the colon within the maybe: Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. That keeps the colon and the text. But then the contains both header and the location text, which may be considered part of the header. The instruction says use for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications...). "Post location" is a header, but the text after colon is not part of the header. However we can embed the colon and the text as part of the header, but that may be considered not a header but part of the content. However we need to preserve content exactly; we cannot add new paragraphs. The original had a single
containing the bold and the text. Changing to
then
would add a new
and remove the original
. That changes the structure but not the content. The content "The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya" remains. The colon is part of the original text after the bold. So we need to keep that colon. If we put the colon inside the
, the text after colon is still there, but we would have the colon inside the header, which may be okay. But then the
after would be missing. The original had the colon and the text in same paragraph. So we could keep it as
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. That is a single element, not a . But the rule says use
for introductory paragraphs and general text. This is a header, so
is appropriate. The colon and text are part of the header line; we can keep them inside the . That would preserve content exactly (the colon and text). However the would contain the colon and the text, which might be considered not a header but a combined line. But it's okay.
Similarly "Terms of Appointment" is a header; after that there is a paragraph. So we need Terms of Appointment
then
This position is at job level HG14 ...
.
Now "How to apply" header: original How to apply: Applicants ...
. We need to preserve colon and text. So we can do How to apply:
then Applicants should send ...
. But that splits the colon from the text. The colon is part of the header; the text after colon is the instruction. The original had colon after "How to apply:" then a space then "Applicants...". So we could keep the colon inside the and then the rest of the sentence after colon inside the
. But that would separate colon from the rest. The colon is part of the header, not the instruction. The instruction text includes "Applicants should send ...". So we can keep colon inside header, and then the rest of the sentence in paragraph. That still preserves content word-for-word (the colon is there). The phrase "How to apply:" includes colon; the rest is the instruction. So we can do:
How to apply:
Applicants should send a cover letter and CV expressing their interest in the position, what they can bring to the job and the names and addresses (including telephone and email) of three referees who are knowledgeable about the candidate’s professional qualifications and work experience to the Head of People and Culture through our recruitment portal by clicking on "Apply Now" on or before 25 October 2026. The position title and reference number REF: C/2318/2026 should be clearly marked on the subject line of the cover letter.
But note that the original had a REF: C/2318/2026 inside the paragraph. We need to preserve that exactly. So we need to keep the REF: C/2318/2026 as is. Also there is a . after 2026. We need to keep that.
Now "We thank all applicants..." paragraph: We thank all applicants for their interest in working for ILRI. Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
. That's a paragraph; we keep as .
"ILRI does not charge..." paragraph:
ILRI does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing or training). ILRI also does not concern itself with information on applicants' bank accounts.
. Keep as .
"To find out more about ILRI, visit our websites at http://www.ilri.org/
. Keep as with anchor.
"More ILRI jobs" paragraph:
. Keep as .
Now we need to ensure we have
for each section header: Key Responsibilities, Management Reporting, Budgeting, forecasting and analysis, Full costing, Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement, Others, Requirements, Post location, Terms of Appointment, How to apply.
Also maybe "Key Responsibilities:" is a header; but the subheaders are also headers. So we need for each.
Now we need to ensure we have
for all paragraphs, including the introductory three paragraphs, the "Post location" paragraph (maybe we keep as
after
?), the "Terms of Appointment" paragraph, the "How to apply" paragraph, the "We thank..." paragraph, the "ILRI does not charge..." paragraph, the "To find out more..." paragraph, the "More ILRI jobs" paragraph.
But note that after "Key Responsibilities:" there is a
Management Reporting:
which we will convert to . Then the list follows. So we need to ensure that after the we have the . That's fine.
Now we need to ensure we preserve all original content exactly, including punctuation, spaces, etc. Let's rewrite step by step.
First paragraph: The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant to provide Institute-wide support in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business intelligence and decision analysis. The position will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reports; translates financial and operational information into actionable insights; and drive reporting automation and continuous process improvement. Next "Others:" header: Others:

Next "Requirements" header: Requirements

Then its .
Next "Post location" paragraph: Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. We need to keep colon and text. So we can do:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
But that merges header and text. However the instruction says use for section headers. "Post location" is a header, but the colon and text are part of the same line. It might be okay to keep them together. However to preserve content exactly, we need to keep the colon and the text. If we put them inside , the colon is inside the header, which is okay. Similarly "Post location" is a Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya

The instruction says use for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications...). "Post location" is a header, but the text after colon is not part of the header. However we can embed the colon and the text as part of the header, but that may be considered not a header but part of the content. Now "How to apply" header: original How to apply: Applicants ...

Through effective business partnering, financial modelling, full costing and cost recovery analysis, the role supports informed decision-making, optimal resource allocation, accountability and the Institute’s long-term financial sustainability.
We keep as is.
Second paragraph: ILRI is an international organisation working for better lives and better planet through livestock. ILRI’s mission emphasises the interconnections between people, animals, and the environment, aiming to improve the lives of more than 300 million people in low- and middle-income countries through livestock science that supports equitable and resilient livestock systems, ultimately contributing to food systems transformation with climate and environmental benefits. This mission is delivered through two core strategic objectives: co-designing and deploying sustainable, science-based livestock solutions, and leveraging science to inform and influence policy and investment decisions.
Third paragraph: ILRI is a member of the CGIAR, a global research alliance that works to transform food, land and water systems in a climate crisis and is the only CGIAR centre dedicated to addressing multiple development challenges through sustainable livestock solutions.
Now "Key Responsibilities:" header: Key Responsibilities:

Next "Budgeting, forecasting and analysis:" header: Budgeting, forecasting and analysis:

Next "Full costing:" header: Full costing:

Then its .
Next "Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement:" header: Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement:

Next "Others:" header: Others:

Then its .
Next "Requirements" header: Requirements
-> Requirements
The text after colon is part of the header line. So we can do:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
That is a single element, not a
. But the rule says use
for introductory paragraphs and general text. This is a header line, so
is appropriate. The content includes the colon and the location text. So we keep it as .
Now "Terms of Appointment" header:
Terms of Appointment
-> Terms of Appointment
Then the paragraph: This position is at job level HG14 and it is only open to Kenyan nationals. The position is a 3-year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding. ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes pension, medical and other insurances.
Keep as .
Now "How to apply:" header:
How to apply: Applicants should send a cover letter and CV expressing their interest in the position, what they can bring to the job and the names and addresses (including telephone and email) of three referees who are knowledgeable about the candidate’s professional qualifications and work experience to the Head of People and Culture through our recruitment portal by clicking on "Apply Now" on or before 25 October 2026. The position title and reference number REF: C/2318/2026 should be clearly marked on the subject line of the cover letter.
We need to convert header to How to apply:
. Note the original had a non-breaking space after colon? It shows "How to apply:

Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya containing the bold and the text. Changing to would add a new and remove the original . That changes the structure but not the content. The content "The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya" remains. The colon is part of the original text after the bold. So we need to keep that colon. If we put the colon inside the after would be missing. The original had the colon and the text in same paragraph. So we could keep it as . But the rule says use for introductory paragraphs and general text. This is a header, so This position is at job level HG14 ... How to apply: Applicants ... Applicants should send ...

Now we need to ensure we have for all paragraphs, including the introductory three paragraphs, the "Post location" paragraph (maybe we keep as after Management Reporting: The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant to provide Institute-wide support in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business intelligence and decision analysis. Now "How to apply:" header: How to apply: Applicants should send a cover letter and CV expressing their interest in the position, what they can bring to the job and the names and addresses (including telephone and email) of three referees who are knowledgeable about the candidate’s professional qualifications and work experience to the Head of People and Culture through our recruitment portal by clicking on "Apply Now" on or before 25 October 2026. The position title and reference number REF: C/2318/2026 should be clearly marked on the subject line of the cover letter.. So we need to keep those lists. For each subheader, we need to wrap the following
items in
... So we need to keep that structure: The Management Reporting: is a header; we need to make it an
. But the original text had
Management Reporting:
. However we must preserve content word-for-word, but we can change the tag? The instruction says "Use for section headers". So we must replace the
. That changes the tag, but it's allowed because we are formatting, not altering content. The content inside (the text) remains same. So we will convert each bold header line into
. Also "Requirements" is a header; we need
Requirements
. Also "Post location" maybe not a header but it's bold; we can treat as Post location
. "Terms of Appointment" also . "How to apply" also
. Also maybe "Key Responsibilities:" is a header; but it's already a
Key Responsibilities:
. However the instruction says "Use for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications, Requirements, Education, Experience, Skills, How to Apply, Key Duties, About the Role)". So "Key Responsibilities:" qualifies.
Now we need to ensure we wrap all paragraphs in
. Then each subheader is
. Then each list follows. After each list, there may be a paragraph (like "Others:" list items). The list items are
...
. Also the "Key Responsibilities:" header is a Key Responsibilities:
Then each subheader is
. Then each list is
with
Terms of Appointment
. Actually it's a header, not a paragraph. So we replace with Terms of Appointment
. Then the following paragraph is How to apply:
. But the paragraph includes the bold "How to apply:" as part of the text. The instruction: Use for section headers. So we need to replace the
How to apply:
followed by the paragraph? Actually the original had containing the bold text, and then the rest of the paragraph (the rest of the text) should be in a
, then the rest of the text (the paragraph) is
. That's okay because we are not adding or removing content, just reorganizing. The content "Applicants should send..." remains. So we will have:
How to apply:
Post location
then maybe:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. But that would be mixing header and text. Better: Post location
then maybe:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
. That keeps the colon and the text. But then the contains both header and the location text, which may be considered part of the header. The instruction says use
for section headers (e.g. Responsibilities, Qualifications...). "Post location" is a header, but the text after colon is not part of the header. However we can embed the colon and the text as part of the header, but that may be considered not a header but part of the content. However we need to preserve content exactly; we cannot add new paragraphs. The original had a single

, the text after colon is still there, but we would have the colon inside the header, which may be okay. But then the
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya

. That would preserve content exactly (the colon and text). However the
would contain the colon and the text, which might be considered not a header but a combined line. But it's okay.
Similarly "Terms of Appointment" is a header; after that there is a paragraph. So we need
Terms of Appointment
then How to apply:
then and then the rest of the sentence after colon inside the
How to apply:
for each section header: Key Responsibilities, Management Reporting, Budgeting, forecasting and analysis, Full costing, Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement, Others, Requirements, Post location, Terms of Appointment, How to apply.
Also maybe "Key Responsibilities:" is a header; but the subheaders are also headers. So we need
for each.
Now we need to ensure we have
?), the "Terms of Appointment" paragraph, the "How to apply" paragraph, the "We thank..." paragraph, the "ILRI does not charge..." paragraph, the "To find out more..." paragraph, the "More ILRI jobs" paragraph.
But note that after "Key Responsibilities:" there is a
. Then the list follows. So we need to ensure that after the
we have the
. That's fine.
Now we need to ensure we preserve all original content exactly, including punctuation, spaces, etc. Let's rewrite step by step.
First paragraph:
Key Responsibilities:
Now "Management Reporting:" header: Management Reporting:
Then the list items.
Next "Budgeting, forecasting and analysis:" header:
Budgeting, forecasting and analysis:
Then its .
Next "Full costing:" header:
Full costing:
Then its .
Next "Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement:" header:
Business Partnering and Continuous Improvement:
Then its .
Next "Others:" header:
Others:
Then its .
Next "Requirements" header:
Requirements
Then its .
Next "Post location" paragraph:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
But that merges header and text. However the instruction says use for section headers. "Post location" is a header, but the colon and text are part of the same line. It might be okay to keep them together. However to preserve content exactly, we need to keep the colon and the text. If we put them inside
, the colon is inside the header, which is okay. The text after colon is part of the header line. So we can do:
Post location: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
That is a single element, not a is appropriate. The content includes the colon and the location text. So we keep it as
.
Now "Terms of Appointment" header:
Terms of Appointment
Then the paragraph: How to apply:
. Note the original had a non-breaking space after colon? It shows "How to apply:
