HANDYMAN - MECHANICAL

LOCATION

HERCULES

REPORTS TO

MECHANICAL FOREMAN

To assist qualified Fitter or Boilermaker artisans in response to planned and un-planned work in order to ensure maximum plant availability.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Relevant qualification from an Accredited Service Provider on NQF level 2 (Machine Handyman’s course)
  • Valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in related engineering field
  • Computer skills (On key and other system Skills)

REQUIRED OTHER/BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

  • Strong inclination to root cause identification and problem solving
  • Pro-active, self-disciplined and solution driven
  • Ability to adapt to harsh working environments
  • Not afraid of heights

KNOWLEDGE

  • Machinery Manufacturing
  • Cement industry
  • Maintaining and operating oxy-acetylene equipment
  • Using arc welding equipment
  • Maintaining and repairing an Air slide
  • Maintaining and repairing Conveyor Belts
  • Maintaining and repairing an Elevator
  • Maintaining and repairing a Screw Conveyor
  • Maintaining and repairing a Dust Collector
  • Maintaining and repairing a Ducting and Dampers
  • Maintaining and repairing Vibrating Screens
  • Maintaining and repairing a Sampler

Duties and Responsibilities

Execution of Maintenance

  • Conduct and assist with Mechanical/Electrical work which supports maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and installations of electrical equipment as per planned and un-planned workorders.
  • Perform planned and un-planned maintenance activities in a timeous and cost effective manner to the correct standard.
  • Provide feedback to the Technician/Electrician/Foreman on the execution of work for Continuous Improvement and for the enhancement of future planning.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.

Operational Control

  • Ensure that Operational Best Practices (OBP) is adhered to.
  • Complete intangible and tangible time booking accurately.
  • Complete daily checklists for tools and areas of responsibility.

Communication and Reporting

  • Participate meaningfully in the departmental INVOCOMs.
  • Achieve engineering Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provide input into interdepartmental INVOCOms.
  • Report factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk.
  • Adhere to SHE, legal, QMS), statutory and regulatory structures and frameworks and promote a culture of compliance.

Governance and Risk Management

  • Adhere to SHE, legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Minimise environmental non-conformances.
  • Comply with disciplinary rules, regulations and procedures.

Inventory Management

  • Minimise working material inventory.

Contractor Management

  • Interact professionally with external service providers and contractors as required.
