The Balance Sheet Reporting Team, part of Old Mutual Limited's Group Reporting & Insights function, is responsible for delivering key regulatory reporting requirements, performance metrics, and capital-related reporting. This role partners closely with stakeholders across the organization.
The Role
Reporting to the Head: Balance Sheet Reporting, this role leads two specialist teams responsible for calculating, reviewing, forecasting, and delivering regulatory submissions. The incumbent oversees planning, coordination, and timely delivery of submissions, manages stakeholder relationships, and drives continuous process improvement.
Key Result Areas
OMLACSA Regulatory Reporting
- Review and approve OMLACSA solvency calculations and related movement analysis.
- Manage and oversee quarterly and annual regulatory submissions to the Prudential Authority.
- Oversee preparation, review, and submission of regulatory returns to the SARB.
- Manage internal OMLACSA Capital Management Reporting.
OML Insurance Group and Financial Conglomerate Reporting
- Review biannual OML Insurance Group and Financial Conglomerate solvency calculations and commentary.
- Manage and oversee regulatory submissions to applicable regulatory bodies.
- Manage and oversee the consolidation of off-balance sheet items.
- Oversee ASISA levy reasonability calculations.
General
- Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory deadlines.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and manage interdependencies.
- Ensure accurate and complete data is provided to the Group Actuarial team.
- Manage interactions with external auditors and governance forums.
- Support business planning and capital management processes.
- Support the development, monitoring, and forecasting of capital positions.
- Support external reporting processes.
- Coordinate and oversee ad-hoc regulatory submissions and applications.
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments and emerging requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 reports.
- Maintain and enhance the regulatory reporting control environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Qualified CA (SA) with 7-10 years relevant financial services experience.
- Proven experience in a Group Finance or Group Reporting environment.
- Experience in regulatory reporting to the Prudential Authority and SARB.
- Ability to work with large volumes of data.
- Experience in engaging with auditors.
- Working knowledge of Insurance Act regulatory requirements and reporting frameworks.
- HFM experience is advantageous.
- Proven people leadership experience.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Communication and presentation skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Learning agility.
- Flexibility and willingness to work outside a strictly defined role and hours when required.
- Stakeholder management capability.
Strong understanding of:
- Capital management principles.
- Insurance balance sheet valuation concepts.
