Junior Data Scientist

Job Description

Analyse data to draw insights, patterns and conclusions that will enable the business to improve their products, services, processes or to develop new strategies. Must be adept at handling large, complex datasets and developing and applying robust analytical processes including data cleaning, data interpretation models, forecasting, pattern identification and trend analysis. As well as studying product and process-related data, may also be involved in studying environmental conditions in which the firm operates, competitor behaviour, or other data sources. Requires knowledge of tools and methods including statistics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. OML Roles mapped to this profile are: Junior Data Analyst.

Responsibilities

Advanced and Predictive Analytics

Build machine learning models and run advanced and predictive analyses and perform model assessments, validation, and enhancement activities, using predictive analytics' software tools and functionalities.

Data Exploration

Work independently to collate and analyse data using predetermined tools, methods, and formats to create standard insights. Performs data manipulation and descriptive / exploratory data analysis.

Data and Analytics Strategy

Make recommendations to improve data and analytics models and data scientce artifacts, contributing to the continuous improvement and refinement of data and analytics strategy.

Performance Improvement through Business Intelligence

Support building of models that use machine learning algorithms by applying standard statistical analysis or data preparation methods.

Data Architecture

Consult and educate stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardizing data recording to ensure quality and accuracy.

Data Collection and Analysis

Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods and formats. Involves working independently. Extracts data from various internal and external data sources.

Business Requirements Identification

Support collection of business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis, to express requirements clearly and succinctly.

Insights and Reporting

Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports. Builds dashboards and reports to help answer business needs.Generates business insights via data analysis.

Personal Capability Building

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
