Job Description

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) is seeking to appoint a Programme Co-Lead (i.e., a position at a Lecturer level) to support and drive the growth of the Innovation and Technology Acceleration Programme, as well as lead the activities of the Real-Time Information Management Systems (RTIMS) Centre. The role involves contributing to teaching, conducting high-quality research, supervising postgraduate students, and supporting programme-level and project-level implementation. Key responsibilities include leading research initiatives in mining digitalisation, automation, AI, and related technologies; managing contract research projects; engaging with industry stakeholders; and producing research outputs. The candidate must have a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Information Management Systems, Computer Science, Data Science) and demonstrated experience in mining technology, research, and stakeholder engagement. Personal attributes required include leadership, organisational skills, and a passion for innovation.
