Architectural Technologist or Architect

Job Description

Prepare, develop, and refine detailed architectural drawings, layouts, and technical documentation across various project stages (concept, design development, and construction).

Produce accurate working drawings, schedules, and specifications to support project execution.

Coordinate and integrate architectural designs with structural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.

Review and interpret technical information, identifying and resolving design clashes and coordination issues.

Ensure all designs comply with SANS standards, local building regulations, statutory requirements, and client specifications.

Assist with the preparation and submission of building plans and supporting documentation to local authorities, and manage related approvals.

Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys to monitor progress, verify compliance, and resolve technical challenges on-site.

Engage with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to address queries and provide technical guidance during construction.

Support project managers in tracking deliverables, timelines, and documentation requirements.

Contribute to quality assurance processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of drawings and documentation.

Assist with as-built drawings, project close-out documentation, and handover requirements.

Maintain organised project records and ensure proper document control using relevant systems (e.g. ACC).

Requirements

• Architectural Technologist
• A 3-year accredited qualification OR
• Architect
• Professional Master’s Degree in Architecture

Additional Requirements

• SACAP registration (or eligibility) advantageous;
• Minimum 2–5 years’ relevant experience;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (essential);
• Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) advantageous;
• Strong understanding of SANS regulations, construction methods, and detailing;
• Experience in industrial or commercial projects beneficial.
