About the role:
Join Redstar Wholesale Catering Services as a Sales Representative driving targeted sales growth in the hospitality and catering sectors within Cape Town CBD and Atlantic Seaboard. This role demands expertise in consultative selling, relationship management, and client prospecting, focusing on hotels, restaurants, cafes, catering companies, lodges, and guesthouses. Ideal candidates have proven sales achievement, strong knowledge of food and beverage product portfolios, and a strategic approach to territory management. Familiarity with local markets enhances success in expanding revenue streams and customer satisfaction. What you'll do:
- Identify and acquire new business accounts within the hospitality and catering sectors to build a robust sales pipeline.
- Maintain and nurture existing customer accounts by understanding their needs and delivering customised product solutions.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales and gross margin targets.
- Establish and sustain strong relationships with chefs, procurement managers, food and beverage managers, and business owners through regular meetings and site visits.
- Promote new products, bulk deals, and special promotions to add value for customers and drive sales growth.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance regularly, preparing comprehensive reports on territory performance, customer trends, and competitor activities.
- Stay informed on industry trends, pricing, competitor activity, and market demands to ensure competitive positioning.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers and internal teams to guarantee product availability, pricing accuracy, and timely order fulfilment.
- Conduct engaging product demonstrations and tastings to showcase product quality and benefits.
- Manage stock levels, advise customers on product availability, substitutions, and assist with credit term management to ensure timely payment collections.
What you bring:
- Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. A Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in B2B sales within the foodservice, hospitality, or catering industries.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Possession of a valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly within the designated territory.
- Demonstrated sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently influence decision-makers and close deals.
- Strong understanding of the hospitality industry, including food and beverage trends, procurement processes, and menu planning.
- Excellent customer service orientation, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling assessment of customer needs and recommendation of appropriate products, supported by data-driven decision-making.
- Effective communication skills to engage with customers and collaborate with internal teams, combined with strong time management and self-motivation to work independently towards sales goals.
- Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
