We are seeking a reliable, organised, and detail-oriented Storeperson to join our hospital catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and controlling stock while ensuring that food, beverages, cleaning materials, and consumables are managed efficiently to support the delivery of quality patient, staff, and visitor catering services. This role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, food safety, stock control, and maintaining a well-organised store environment within a healthcare setting. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Ensure all stock is stored correctly in accordance with food safety and hospital standards.
- Maintain appropriate stock rotation practices (FIFO) and monitor expiry dates.
- Issue stock to kitchen and operational departments as required.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with month-end inventory procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management of shortages or potential stock issues.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory reports.
- Ensure cold rooms, freezers, dry stores, and storage areas are clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene standards.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving stock safely.
- Support waste management and minimise stock losses.
- Adhere to all health, safety, infection control, and HACCP requirements.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of stock control and inventory management principles.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and storage requirements.
- Computer literacy and experience using stock management systems.
- Ability to work accurately with numbers and documentation.
- Physically fit and able to handle stock and deliveries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Storeperson, Stock Controller, or Stores Assistant in hospitality, healthcare, catering, or a related environment.
