About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Storeperson to join our University Canteen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and controlling stock while ensuring that all inventory is managed efficiently to support daily catering operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Ensure all stock is appropriately stored and rotated according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
• Maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular stock counts.
• Issue stock to kitchen and catering staff as required.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Ensure storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers are clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards.
• Assist with inventory control and ordering processes.
• Adhere to company policies, health and safety regulations, and food safety requirements.
• Support the catering team during peak operational periods when required.

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of stock control procedures and inventory management systems.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office and stock management systems).
• Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Physically fit and able to lift and move stock when required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Proven experience as a Storeperson, Storekeeper, or Stock Controller, preferably within a catering, hospitality, food service, or retail environment.
