The Theatre Stock/Equipment Controller is responsible for the efficient management of all theatre stock and equipment, ensuring availability, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to company policies and procedures within Netcare Hospitals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Managing and maintaining optimal stock levels for all theatre consumables and equipment, including ordering, receiving, unpacking, and rotating stock.
- Conducting regular stock counts, reconciling discrepancies, and investigating variances.
- Implementing and maintaining an efficient inventory management system, including accurate data entry and reporting.
- Ensuring all theatre equipment is clean, in good working order, and readily available for use, including coordinating repairs and maintenance with relevant departments.
- Performing regular checks on expiry dates of sterile stock and rotating stock accordingly.
- Maintaining accurate records of stock movement, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborating with theatre staff, procurement, and other departments to anticipate needs and optimize stock holding.
- Adhering to all Netcare Hospitals' policies and procedures regarding stock control, infection control, and safety.
- Assisting with the implementation of new stock control systems or procedures.
- Identifying and reporting any issues related to stock shortages, expired items, or equipment malfunction.
Job Qualifications:
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is essential.
- Previous experience in stock control or inventory management, preferably within a healthcare or theatre environment.
- Knowledge of medical and surgical consumables and equipment is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move stock as required.
