Purpose of the Job

Shoprite Group is seeking a Regional Secretary based in Allensnek, Gauteng, to provide high-level administrative support to regional management within a dynamic retail environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in office management, calendar coordination, document preparation, and stakeholder communication, ensuring efficient regional operations. Proficiency in MS Office, excellent organisational skills, and strong interpersonal abilities are essential. This full-time role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of managing confidential information and facilitating seamless communication across multiple departments, supporting strategic initiatives and operational excellence. As a key administrative partner, the Regional Secretary contributes directly to the company's commitment to exceptional retail service delivery and operational efficiency, working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment offering opportunities for career growth and development within South Africa's leading retail group.

Job Objectives

Provide efficient secretarial and administrative support to the Regional Manager and team. Manage correspondence, schedules, and regional documentation accurately and timely. Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, minutes, and follow-up on action items. Maintain confidential records and reports with high attention to detail. Facilitate communication between regional offices, stakeholders, and external partners. Support the implementation of regional projects and events.

Qualifications

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Diploma or Certificate in Office Administration, Secretarial Studies, or related field (advantageous).

Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a secretarial or administrative role, preferably within a regional or corporate environment. Experience in managing complex diaries and arranging meetings. Proven track record of handling confidential information responsibly.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional local languages an advantage). Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of office procedures and basic financial administration.
